System & Software Safety 2016

We would like to invite you to the 4th Scandinavian Conference on SYSTEM & SOFTWARE SAFETY. The conference will take place in Stockholm, March 16-17, and is arranged in collaboration between Addalot, KTH,and ICES.

Now open for registration

The 4th Scandinavian Conference on System & Software Safety has become a central meeting place for Scandinavian safety experts from different industries. It is an opportunity to share experiences and make new contacts. There will be an overview day followed by a day of parallel workshops about different challenges, techniques, standards and methods.

Conference 2016 is now ready and registration is now available

This year we are proud to announce two keynotes:

Safety Challenges for Self-Driving Cars

Jonas Nilsson, Volvo Cars (preliminary speaker)

The development of self-driving cars represents a paradigm shift for the automotive industry. This talk is based on experiences from the Drive Me project and focuses on the new challenges in safety that comes with autonomy. In addition, the talk will elaborate on the impact these challenges has on system design and verification.

Fundamental Principles of Software Safety Assurance

Prof. Tim Kelly, Univ. of York

There are many standards that address the development and assurance of safety-critical software. There are easily observed differences in the details of these standards. However, underlying these differences there are a number of fundamental principles that can be observed in many of the current standards. Using a framework of 4+1 principles of software safety, this talk will discuss the essential features and challenges of current safety-critical software development.

Other speeches for day one (16/3) :

  • Automotive Industry Approach to Functional Safety, Fredrik Törner, Volvo Cars
  • Expert vs. layman in risk assessment, Tor Stålhane, NTNU
  • To be safe you need to be secure, Hans Hansson, SICS Västerås
  • Lessons learned: Introducing safety in organizations Dr. Henrik Thane, Safety Integrity AB
  • Automating safety engineering with model-based techniques,  Juha-Pekka Tolvanen, Meta-Case
  • Software complexity metrics in general and in the context of ISO 26262 software verification requirements,  Miroslaw Staron, Chalmers / University of Gothenburg
  • Traceability in agile development, Even-André Karlsson, Addalot

Day two (17/3) will have half-day workshops:

  • Modelling for Safety critical systems
  • Combining safety and other disciplines
  • Analysis techniques for Safety Systems
  • Run-Time versus Design-Time Analysis of Safety in System-of-Systems
  • Technical support for safe-ty critical systems
  • Managing safety development

The conference will take place at Spårvagnshallarna in Stockholm, March 16-17, 2016 and is arranged in collaboration between AddalotKTH,and ICES.
